Modification of the standards: simple utopy or urgent necessity?
A clear point to remember here is that we are talking about 2 breeds registered in a kennel club, we are not talking about dogs registered in a breed club like the JRTCGB who do not want kennel club recognition.
There fore the contest of which is better and what the name should be is not even a point as the Jack Russell Terrier under 30cm is not an officially kennel club registered breed at this moment in time but thats not to say this will last forever.
Only the Parson Russell Terrier is a kennel club registered breed in England. No under 30cm dogs are catered for, the breed standard in the Parson has had a few changes over the years and even the stud book was opened for a couple of years in 2002 i think as i know Foxwarren registered their dogs at this time as Parson Russell Terriers whilst they had this chance.
Australia took the Jack Russell from England and further developed the breed in their country, no one has been given the information of how the breed was developed but they obviously used something into their imports to breed a new type of Jack Russell which is very dominant for coat type and colour, i don't know if any of you ever saw the OzDogs interview from 4 top Australian breeders (Myrmidon, Baylock, Inverbrae and Otwaymist) in the 90's but it is a very interesting article and at the time at least 2 of them Myrmidon and i think Inverbrae wanted the name to be Australian Jack Russell Terrier, they did not want England as the country of origin. I believe Australia should have taken that opportunity at the time but to change it now would be a pointless and very confusing task.
I firmly believe that the English KC is responsible for the whole mess, they should have registered both breeds as Jack Russell Terrier with seperate height classes for showing only, interbreeding of the 2 sizes should have been allowed then both types would have a much bigger and healthier gene pool to breed from, sadly they didn't do this and we now have 2 breeds with the same history with ever shrinking gene pools.
For showing only i think the coat types should be seperated to smooths and broken/rough, that way the smooths would do better and people would keep more of them, without smooth coats the rough coat becomes to fluffy and really horrible, and vice versa without broken or rough coats the smooth becomes too sparse, we need healthy numbers of all coat types, the way the shows are going people with rough coated dogs do all the winning and smooths get overlooked in many cases.

Re: Modifica degli standard: semplice utopia o urgente necessità? Modification of the standards: simple utopy or urgent necessity?
Ares pelo broken, direi australiano, 7 mesi, 29 cm, circa 6.5 Kg;
Wolly. pelo liscio, direi inglese, 4.5 mesi, 25 cm, circa 4.4 kg.
Vi devo dire che Wolly lo vedo più sportivo, agile, minuto sino alle soglie del troppo magro, diciamo che sta in un rettangolo allungato;

1°:perche nascerebbero altri casini..

Yes but... the English KC in other cases has maintained an "elastic" attitude, so if the breeders and the owners, all togheter, move a right objection to right recognization of under 12" Russells as Parsons and to let the Australian type with an himself standard, i think will be better for the race and for the right breeding selection.
We have two kind of dogs, the "modern" Australian: a dog for showing, no game, a real pet dog for families and the ancient Parson/Jack from english blood: a dog who, in the 90% of cases manteins the real working attitude.
Between these two races there are a lot of mongrels....
